Superbug Diagnoses Facebook Featuritis

I have become increasingly frustrated with the growing facebook features - it's become convoluted, it scrolls past so quickly - there should be a facebook slide show, the interface is too busy and reflects the hive that's built it - each team probably have their little corner to try to "improve" it - usually by adding options like chat just now and making every element more ... Read moreconfusing and complicated - noone has the courage to say - scrap all that years of work and millions spent - make it simple again.

it's not new - mindsets change - even apple are following in billy gates's footsteps now and turning retrograde with their once revolutionary OS - turning into a toyshop - "how to make sure the user has to buy our premium products" - terrified of simplicity - only google have the guts! google have the progressive mindset - it will probably eventually bankrupt their evolutionarily impaired competition.

I propose a filter application for facebook - an intelligent personal assistant that would present a slideshow showing the user ON A FULL SCREEN - a relevant interpretation of their facebook feed - reads out all the messages or at least lets you read them one by one - then "respond" or "comment" should be given as an option with a timely reminder about upcoming events and invitations at the end of this highly - a very simple calendar... Read morepersonalised facebook slideshow - it could be a stand-alone app that filters facebook to your liking and presents all the rich information from all one's channels in a format tailored for the user's persona.

i renounce my above opinion - i now say don't simplify facebook - but produce an option to simplify what comes through in a much simpler interface and present the information as a full screen app without fiddly knobs and tinkerboxes

oh, i've just written a whole ream more - if only they'd listen or i'd know whom to tell it and how!

i want an "intelligent secretary" filter for facebook that presents a full screen slide show of my facebook news and offers to make decisions - "you ought to decide if you're going to guilford or fabric this weekend" - a stand-alone program that filters your feed with the option of scrolling back in time as well - instead of spending time and energy on making chat more complicated!

If there's too much money - give the poor programmers an extended paid holiday to get back to nature a bit and reintegrate their modules with the natural world at least for a few months. pay them to explore other cultures instead of chaining them to their desks and forcing them to work crazy hours for luxuries they don't need!

I was saying all this long before google, i'll have you know

:-(

thank you for your positive comment, Lynda! Hope all is well in Belsize :-)
